 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali. SUSPECTED OIL THIEVES IN EFCC CUSTODY.[PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

     The Nigerian Army has handed over two suspected oil thieves and a truck to the Uyo zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The suspects, Patience David, 38 and Iniebong Udo Etim, 32 were arrested by the officers of 2 Brigade Nigerian Army during a routine patrol on March 2, 2020 at about 10.50am in Awa junction, Onna Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State. .

They were arrested alongside a white truck containing illegally refined Automated Gas Oil, AGO stacked in sacks. The truck had no registration number.

Victor Ikang, Head of the zone’s Extractive Industry Fraud Section, received the suspects and the truck from the Army, on behalf of Garba Dugum, the Uyo zonal head.

The suspects are currently assisting the Commission with vital information and will soon be arraigned in court.More photos below.
