 Zambia president approves law expanding parliament months before election Zambia's President Hakainde Hichilema on Thursday signed into law constitutional changes that will expand the country's parliament, Reuters reported. The changes increase the number of members of parliament to around 280 from 167 currently by creating more constituencies, reserving 40 new seats for women, youth and people with disabilities, and allowing the president to appoint 11 members instead of eight previously. Hichilema, who will run for a second presidential term in the August 2026 election, said during a signing ceremony that the changes were being made in good faith and there was adequate consultation. He previously argued that some constituencies were too big for effective service delivery and should be split into smaller ones. COVID-19: OGUN GOVERNOR ABIODUN INSPECTS FOOD BANK AHEAD OF RELIEF EFFORTS.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

     The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun Saturday inspected bagged relief materials at the State Central Food Bank ahead of the stimulus package distribution across the State.
The Governor, who was on the visit to ensure quality assurance in content, bagging and logistics, emphasised that the exercise was targeted at 500,000 homes.
Governor Abiodun stressed that while the number of targeted beneficiaries may not reflect everyone, it would achieve the objective of the exercise which is to reach the poor and vulnerable.
The Governor reiterated that his administration will not condone any act of sabotage, exploitation or compromise, as the exercise would be closely monitored.
The State Governor promised to continue taking seriously the welfare of the good people of the State, even in unforeseen situations as this.More photos below.
