Kenneth Okonkwo Withdraws Support for Atiku Abubakar Over Amaechi’s Selection as Running Mate Actor-turned-politician and former Labour Party presidential campaign spokesman, Kenneth Okonkwo, has withdrawn his backing for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s 2027 presidential bid following the emergence of former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi as the vice-presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).      The Minister of State Power, Mr. Goddy Jedy-Agba, OFR, has enjoined the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, to improve on its metering system, especially in the rural areas, as this would improve their revenue collection.
The Minister stated this on Thursday, 18th June, 2020 while on a familiarization visit to the AEDC Corporate Headquarters, Wuse Zone 4, Abuja.
The Minister noted that if customers are provided with meters, the billing system would be made easy and more revenue generated to increase the capital base of the company, adding that they should invest more on meter acquisition.
Jedy- Agba, while commending the concerted efforts made by the AEDC in the area of distribution in the last few years of their activities in Abuja and its environs, charged the management to lay more emphasis on creating public awareness and engaging on Corporate Social Responsibility with host communities.
The CEO/MD, AEDC, Engr. Ernest Mupwaya, in welcoming the Minister disclosed that the AEDC, in partnership with Aquivis Technologies Limited had developed and deployed a high tension overhead line Fault Circuit Locator which is a smart grid outage management solution, the first of its kind in Nigeria. He said the technology would address the long time it took for repairs of faulty high tension circuits and prolonged outages such as the 11 KV and 33KV overhead feeders, adding that it had enabled the Abuja Disco to address its operational challenges, such as the incessant tripping, fault detection and prolonged outages on infrastructures.
