 Lagos Court Jails NOGASA Chair, Fatuyi Phillips 21 Years  for N43.5m Fraud    Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday, November 18, 2024, convicted and sentenced Fatuyi Yemi Philips, Chairman, Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria, NOGASA, to 21 years imprisonment for N43.5m fraud.   The Lagos Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on April 5, 2022, arraigned Philips alongside his firm, Oceanview Oil and Gas Limited, on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N43, 502,000.00   Count one reads: "Fatuyi Yemi Philips and Oceanview Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited, on or about the 28th day of September, 2016 at Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud, obtained the aggregate sum of N43, 502,000.00 from Elochukwu Okoye and Elebana Unique Ventures Nigeria Limited on behalf of WAPCIL Nigeria Limited under the false rep

JONATHAN PRESENTS FOODSTUFF TO BAYELSA, 19 STATES.{PHOTOS}.

A foundation run by former President Goodluck Jonathan has donated different items including foodstuffs to 20 states in the country in its ongoing distribution of palliatives to cushion the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
The organisation, christened Goodluck Jonathan Foundation, said efforts were underway to ensure that other states benefit from the donations.
Head of Bayelsa office of the foundation, Ms Gloria Dede, made this known yesterday in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital, while presenting some items to the Bayelsa State Government.
According to her, the gesture is to complement the COVID-19 response efforts of the various state governments.
Dede said: “Food items such as rice and beans, hand sanitisers and other sanitary materials have been donated to Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, and 20 other states.
She mentioned some of the states that had benefitted so far as Anambra, Abia, Adamawa, Bauchi, Benue, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo and Ekiti.Other states are Kebbi, Taraba, Zamfara, Sokoto, Oyo, Imo, Ebonyi, Enugu, Rivers and Akwa Ibom.

Dede noted that the COVID-19 pandemic had brought about a devastating impact on economies and governance around the world, thereby affecting the lives and livelihood of millions of citizens.
In a related development, the former President has provided covid-19 palliatives to the government and people of Nasarawa State.
Immediate past governor of the state and Senator representing Nasarawa South Senatorial District, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura led the ex-president’s team to present the items to the state governor, Abdullahi Sule.
Senator Al-Makura said the effort is part of the ex-president’s contribution to cushion the effect of Covid-19 pandemic.
The food items donated include 2000 bags of rice, beans and maize.More photos below.
