 Terrorists, banditry activities in Northwest have reduced – Shehu Sani Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central Senator, has disclosed a decrease in the activities of terrorists and bandits in the Northwest. Sani said the recent killings of some top terrorists’ leaders could have been responsible for the decrease. Posting on X, the former lawmaker wrote: “In the last few weeks, there is a noticeable decrease in terrorist and banditry attacks and kidnappings in the North Western parts of this country. “The elimination of some of the top terrorist leaders must have been responsible.This is commendable and should be sustained.” In the past weeks, notable bandit leaders have been killed in the North. Those eliminated include- Haliru Kachalla Sububu or Buzu, Kachalla Tukur Sharme (killed by rival gang), Sani Black, another prominent bandit leader, killed along with his brother and two children, Kachalla Makore, Kachalla Mai Shayi Kachalla Tsoho Lulu and Mai’Yar Gitta.      The Lagos State Government has asked residents in the Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government Area of the State to give their maximum support to the successful execution of the Otto-Wharf/ Mba-Cardoso road reconstruction project.
The Honourable Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Idris Salako, who made the call at a stakeholders' meeting in Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government Secretariat, stated that the provision of adequate infrastructure will provide the necessary leap for development to take firm root in any society.
The Commissioner, speaking through the Director, Physical Planning in the Ministry, Tpl. Bola Aliu, added that with many road construction projects ongoing across the State, the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu led administration has demonstrated an unparalleled commitment to infrastructure development in every part of Lagos State.
According to him, "The reconstruction project of the Otto-Wharf/Mba-Cardoso road represents another giant leap that will enhance transportation and socio-economic development of this community and the surrounding areas”.
"The present administration led by Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has, as a matter of deliberate policy articulated in the T.H.E.M.E.S. Agenda, maintained a consistent focus on improving the intermodal transportation system of the State", he said.
Salako noted that since the inception of the present administration, the motoring public has witnessed the construction and rehabilitation of major roads as part of efforts to ease transportation across the State.
He urged residents of the area to give the required cooperation to the Ministry of Physical Planning and other Agencies of Government for the establishment of the Right of Way of the proposed road, stressing that their total support in removing all encumbrances in the way of the project is very essential.
The Commissioner explained further that the very essence of the stakeholders' meeting was to establish mutual understanding and cooperation required for the smooth execution of the project as the State Government is favourably disposed to inclusiveness with the realisation that it determines, to a large extent, the success of every meaningful project in the community.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Aramide Soyoye, said that the project was intended to bring succour to the people of the area by enhancing connectivity and socio-economic activities.
She added that the Government would try as much as possible to minimise the inconvenience that the road construction might cause, while soliciting for the full cooperation and support of residents during the reconstruction works.
Mr. Lukman Olumon, Honourable Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, representing Ajeromi-Ifelodun Constituency 1, said that his constituents cherished the project as a worthwhile dividend of democracy and assured that the community would take ownership of the project by being cooperative.
Also at the meeting were the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Olujimi Hotonu; the Chairman, Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government, Mr. Fatai Ayoola and Community Leaders in the Local Government Area.
