 IGP DISU PAYS OPERATIONAL VISIT TO  AKWA IBOM, PRESIDES OVER PASSING-OUT CEREMONY OF 1,068 RETRAINED CONSTABLES The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, today, 30th April 2026, undertook an official visit to Akwa Ibom State, where he paid a courtesy call on the Executive Governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, ahead of the passing-out ceremony of retrained Police Constables in Uyo.     President Muhammadu Buhari felicitates with former Minister of Police Affairs, Maj. Gen. David Jemibewon (rtd), on his 80th birthday, July 20, 2020, joining family members and associates to celebrate with the former military officer, who played many pivotal roles in shaping the nation’s history, both in the private and public sectors.
President Buhari extols Maj. Gen. Jemibewon for services to the nation, as a former Governor of the defunct Western State, and later Oyo State, and taking up strategic positions in the Nigerian Army as General Officer Commanding First Infantry Division and as Adjutant General.
As a former Minister of Police Affairs, the President affirms that the reforms instituted by the former governor strengthened the Nigeria Police Force for better service, especially the setting up of the Police Service Commission, and initiating a process for the expansion of the security agency with more officers, and modelling of some global best practices in operations.
President believes Maj. Gen. Jemibewon’s interest in the country continued to soar after retirement as he contributed to the process of returning the country to democratic governance, and has consistently played an active role in advocating good governance and development that directly impact on the people.
The President prays that the Almighty God will continue to bless the former governor with good health and strength to keep serving the nation.
