 Catholic priest reportedly klled in Kogi  A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, has been reportedly killed by unknown assailants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. According to reports, the priest was stabbed multiple times along Ajaokuta road on Wednesday, 29th July 2026. His body was found dumped at the roadside.  Rev. Fr. Oyetoro was born in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State and a native of Ayetoro in Ijumu Local Government Area.  Until his death, he served as a priest at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Egbe. *Restate ban on knock-outs, unauthorised use of Sirens,tinted glasses and covered plate numbers*
The Anambra State Police Command wishes to assure all 'Ndi Anambra' that this year's Christmas and New year celebrations, like the previous ones would be conducted peacefully.
2. To this end, the Command in conjunction with other Sister agencies has put in place a robust Crime prevention strategies such as visbliity policing, foot and vehicular patrols, including Joint stop and search Operations, constant Raids on Criminal hideouts and traffic decongestions.
3. *The use of Knock-outs,Fire crackers and other forms of fireworks in the State constitute a serious security risk as it is capable of misleading the security personnel on apparent danger of gunshots as well as engender fear in the minds of the peace loving citizens*.
4. Consequently, Parents and Guardians are advised to warn their Children and wards from purchasing and using knockouts as the law governing the sales, purchase and use of Fireworks is still in Force.
5. Members of the public are equally enjoined to refrain from unauthorized use of Sirens, tinted glasses and covering of vehicles plate numbers.
6. Groups or persons desiring to commit the above stated offences are warned to desist forthwith as anyone arrested would be dealt with in accordance with the Law.
7. Finally, the Public are enjoined to report any suspicious persons or movements to the nearest Police Stations or through the following Police Emergency number for prompt response 07039194332,please.
