 Troops Rescue 10 Kidnap Victims, Recover Weapons, Cash In Kaduna Troops of Sector 5 under Operation Peace Shield have rescued 10 kidnapped victims and recovered arms, ammunition and ransom money in a successful operation in Kaduna State. The rescue followed the abduction of several women from their farms in Ungwan Nungu, Sanga Local Government Area, on 29 November 2025. Security forces launched an immediate search-and-rescue mission to track the kidnappers. According to military authorities, the breakthrough came at about 6:40 a.m. on 5 December 2025, when troops intercepted the kidnappers during an attempted ransom collection. The armed group reportedly came under heavy fire, forcing them to flee into the surrounding forest and abandon the hostages. POPE FRANCIS CRITICISES PEOPLE GOING ON HOLIDAY TO FLEE COVID LOCKDOWNS.{PHOTOS}.

VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - Pope Francis condemned on Sunday people who had gone abroad on holiday to escape coronavirus lockdowns, saying they needed to show greater awareness of the suffering of others.

Speaking after his weekly noon blessing, Francis said he had read newspaper reports of people catching flights to flee government curbs and seek fun elsewhere.

“They didn’t think about those who were staying at home, of the economic problems of many people who have been hit hard by the lockdown, of the sick people. (They thought) only about going on holiday and having fun,” the pope said.

“This really saddened me,” he said in a video address from the library of the Vatican’s Apostolic Palace.
