 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali. *POLICE OPERATIVES BURST ANOTHER NOTORIOUS ARMED ROBBERY SYNDICATE TERRORISING NKPOR/OBOSI AXIS*
..Nab two suspects,recover arms and ammunition.
On the 27/2/2021 at about 5:30pm,following a distress call that armed robbers were operating along Nkpor/Obosi axis,Police operatives attached to the Command Special Anti-cult unit in conjunction with Scorpion vigilante group,Obosi quickly responded and moved to the scene.On sighting the police,the hoodlums engaged them into a fierce gun battle,as a result,the two suspects sustained gunshot injuries on their hand and leg leading to their arrest as follows,
(i).Chiboy Ezike 'm' aged 25years of Abagana in Njikoka LGA of Anambra State and,
(i).Chiemere Ajuluchukwu 'm' aged 23years of Awada area.
Suspects equally confessed to be members of a secret cult group called "Supreme Vikings Confraternity".Exhibits recovered in their possessions include Two Locally made pistols and 10 live cartridges.Suspects were taken to the hospital for treatment after which they will be charged to court for prosecution.
Meanwhile,the Commissioner of Police *CP Monday Bala Kuryas,fsi* thanked "Ndi Anambra" for their cooperation and urged them to sustain the tempo by assisting the Command with actionable intelligence in order to discover authors of crime in the State.The CP further reassure the public that the command under his watch will continue to protect lives and properties of all the citizens in accordance with internationally acceptable best practises.
