 AGF to Meet Senate Panel on Tax Reform Bills Today The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), is set to meet with the Senate today (Thursday) to review the Tax Reform Bills submitted by President Bola Tinubu to the National Assembly. Amid controversy surrounding the bills, especially from the North, President Tinubu had urged for calm and directed the AGF to engage with the National Assembly to resolve the issues. In response, the Senate established a panel to meet with the AGF. Although the meeting had been delayed due to changes in the Senate panel's membership and caucus discussions, a source from the Ministry of Justice confirmed that the meeting will proceed today. Senator Abba Moro, Chairman of the Senate Special Committee, also confirmed that both the AGF and Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) Chairman, Zacch Adedeji, have been invited to the session. GOV. UZODIMMA DISSOLVES CABINET, RETAINS 8 COMMISSIONERS.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

Gov. Hope Uzodimma today dissolve Imo State Executive Council.
Those retained include are:
Commissioner for Information
Commissioner for works
Commissioner for women Affairs
Commissioner for technology
Commissioner for finance
Commissioner for health
Commissioner for Sports and commissioner for tourism.

To rejig and reenergize the system for maximum productivity, Governor Hope Uzodimma at his discretion dissolved his 28- member cabinet, retaining eight commissioners in the first major cabinet reshufflement since assuming office on January 15, 2020. The ministries whose Commissioners were retained in the dissolution include Finance, Science and Technology, Health, Works, Information, Youths and Sports, Women Affairs and Tourism. Governor Uzodimma thanked the affected former Commissioners and assured them that they will still be found relevant in other areas if eventually they did not make the new cabinet he said will be reconstituted soon.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
