Meta to end end-to-end encryption for Instagram direct messages Meta is ending end-to-end encryption for Instagram direct messages, a feature the company says will no longer be available after May 8, 2026. Unlike WhatsApp, Instagram never offered encryption to all users or as a default; only select users in certain regions could opt in on a per-chat basis. A Meta spokesperson explained that the decision comes due to low adoption. “Very few people were opting in to end-to-end encrypted messaging in DMs, so we’re removing this option from Instagram in the coming months,” the spokesperson said. “Anyone who wants to keep messaging with end-to-end encryption can easily do that on WhatsApp.” Meta’s messaging strategy has shifted multiple times over the years. WhatsApp chats have been encrypted since 2016, and the company began rolling out default encryption for Messenger in 2023. LASG SERVES IGANMU UNDERBRIDGE SQUATTERS THREE-DAY REMOVAL NOTICE.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit (Taskforce) served has squatters at Iganmu Under Bridge (Whitesand) a three-day notice for the removal of all illegal structures, trucks and vehicles in the area.
The Chairman of the Agency, CSP Shola Jejeloye, advised the owners of the illegal structures, abandoned trucks and shanties to immediately vacate the area within the stipulated period given by the State Government.
CSP Jejeloye, while appealing to traders, mechanics, and other squatters living under the bridge in clusters, noted that Government would enforce the three-day removal notice on Thursday, 13th May 2021.
He disclosed that the 'Removal Notice' became necessary given the rising incidents of traffic robberies around the area and environmental nuisance caused by the squatters.
The Chairman expressed the government’s worry about the squalid environment, which is also being used as hideouts for criminals who daily dispossess road users of their valuables, adding that the present state of the environment allows criminals to escape police arrest.
He averred that the State Government is also committed to reducing the traffic around Ijora and Apapa, hence the need to also to remove every hindrance to the policy, saying “the indiscriminate parking and abandonment of trucks on the road is inimical to the achievement of the desired objectives”.
CPS Jejeloye warned the owners of abandoned trucks and vehicles, shanties, containers and kiosks to remove them before the expiration of the deadline, noting that this is not the first Notice of Removal served on the occupiers.
"Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s newly signed 'Executive Order' on traffic and sanitation has zero-tolerance on environmental abuse, illegal and indiscriminate dumping of refuse and defacing of the environment. I can assure you that Government would enforce this notice come this Thursday”, he said.
