A lecturer with the Nasarawa State University (NSU), Dr Akyala Ishaku, has alleged that the state Civil Service is flooded with ghost workers, appealing to Governor Abdullahi A Sule to carry out another round of verification exercise.
Ishaku, an indigene of the state from Obi Local Government Area made this known in an open letter to the governor over the ongoing workers' strike.
According to him, the exercise will give the governor idea on who are supposed to retire and who are on payroll that are supposed not to be.
"Carry out staff verification (onspot and physical data capture) you will be amazed how many Ghost workers we have in Nasarawa State. The verification will give you an idea on who are supposed to retire and who are on payroll that are supposed not to be.
"It's critical at this point. Contract a forensic recruiting firm to do the data verification", he said.
"Mandate Nasarawa State ICT Bureau to come up with a classic DNA electronic cards for all Nasarawa State civil Servants. The E-ID card will contain salary and other walefare package wallet. Once salary drops, a barecode will appear on the supposed E-ID card and salary can be claimed in the bank. This will block leakages
"Mandate the Nasarawa State Health Insurance Scheme Agency to enroll all civil Servants, ensuring their health well-being because a secured and healthy civil Servants, a healthy state inview.
"There is need to have Nasarawa State Pension Agency, establish this in your tenure and get sincere and Faithfull individuals to handle and manage it.
"You must learn from our former Governor. Late Alhaji Aliyu Akwe Doma, it all started like this in his first tenure and cost him his second tenure bid. Becarefull with people around you that will say forget about civil Servants they don't matter. Remember Nasarawa State is a Civil Servants state."
He however commended the governor on the giant strides recorded by his administration in 2-years.
