 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. NASARAWA: VC URGES STUDENTS TO SHUN ETHNICITY AND RELIGIOUS SENTIMENTS AT THE INAUGURATION OF THE NEWLY ELECTED STUDENT UNION EXECUTIVES.{PHOTOS}.

The Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed has admonished students of the University to shun ethnicity and religious sentiments which are serious impediments to development in any society.


He made the call during the inauguration of the newly elected executives of the Student Union Government of the University at the Assembly Hall of the University in Keffi.


Professor Mohammed stated that no meaningful development can be achieved in an atmosphere of rancor, intolerance, and ethnic sentiments, he called on the elected executives and elected parliamentarians to rally around the newly elected President and his Exco to bring about the much-needed development and conducive atmosphere for learning.


Professor Mohammed also paid glowing tributes on the outgoing Students Union Government President Comrade Victor Affiku Tsaku and his team for raising the standard of unionism by rejecting opportunistic tendencies and other primordial sentiments, he described him as a leader par excellence.


The Vice-Chancellor also congratulated the Dean of Students Affairs Dr. Abdullahi Sallau Modibbo for conducting a free, fair credible and democratically accepted elections which he attributed to his antecedent as a State electoral umpire who conducted credible local government elections in Nasarawa State.


In his valedictory speech, the outgoing SUG president thanked the University Management for giving them the free hand to operate and pleaded with management to improve student welfare.


In his acceptance speech, the newly sworn in SUG President Comrade Naajim Jonathan Gbefwi thanked all that supported him during the electioneering period and solicited for prayers and counsel from all and sundry to enable deliver on the mandates for which he was elected, he promised to make an impact and promote academic excellence.


Highlights of the occasion was the administration of oath on all elected officials by the University Legal Officer, Barrister Jennifer Shaku Ibi and the foundation laying ceremony of the new SUG Secretariat at the Pepsi Garden which was initiated by Comrade Victor Affiku Tsaku.
