 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has expressed optimism that Nigeria will soon emerge stronger, united and bigger despite the current challenges facing the country.


Governor Akeredolu described Amotekun as a child of necessity. 


According to the Governor, the security network, domesticated and currently in five states of the Southwest, was created to address the various security concerns in the states. 


The Governor said finding lasting solutions to the security challenges was a way of justifying the constitutional mandate of protecting lives and property of the citizens reposed in the democratically elected Governors.


Governor Akeredolu spoke at Ikeji-Ile Ijesa in Osun State during the final Burial Outing Service in honour of an astute industrialist, Chief Isaac Ojo Akinmokun, OON, who died at the age of 88years.


Arakunrin Akeredolu, who noted that the problems of the country were multifaceted, however, stated that hope was not yet lost on Nigeria as several concerned leaders in the country were working conscientiously towards salvaging the nation from the current seemingly precariously situation.


Arakunrin Akeredolu used the opportunity to call on all lovers of peaceful Nigeria to intensify their prayers for the restoration of normalcy in the country.


In his sermon, the Bishop of Ijesa North East Diocese, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Rt Revd. Dr Joseph Olusola, said the life of Chief Isaac Ojo Akinmokun was a gospel to the present generation.
