 IGP DISU PAYS OPERATIONAL VISIT TO  AKWA IBOM, PRESIDES OVER PASSING-OUT CEREMONY OF 1,068 RETRAINED CONSTABLES The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, today, 30th April 2026, undertook an official visit to Akwa Ibom State, where he paid a courtesy call on the Executive Governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, ahead of the passing-out ceremony of retrained Police Constables in Uyo. INSECURITY: NCC SHUTS DOWN ALL TELECOM OPERATIONS IN ZAMFARA STATE.[PHOTO].

 The Nigerian Communications Commission has announced the shutdown of all telecom operations sites in Zamfara to deal with the rising insecurity.


The NCC disclosed this in a statement on Friday evening, signed by its CEO, Prof. Umar Danbatta, viewed by Nairametrics.


“The pervading security situation in Zamfara State has necessitated an immediate shut down of all telecommunications services in the State from today September 03, 2021,” the statement said.


They added that the shutdown is to enable relevant security agencies carry out required activities towards addressing the security challenge in the state.


“In line with this requirement, Globalcom is hereby directed to shut down all sites n Zamafara state and any sites in neighbouring states that could provide telecommunications series in Zamfara State,” it said.


They added that the shutdown will operate for 2 weeks from the 3rd of September to the 17th of September.
