 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville.  2023 General Elections May Not Hold - Jega


The former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Attahiru Jega, has warned that the 2023 general elections may not hold.

Jega gave this warning while lamenting the state of insecurity in Nigeria, adding that election may not hold if insecurity is not tackled.


The former INEC Chairman stated this at an event in honour of the late former governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, in Ibadan on Thursday.


Jega further stated that adequate security across the country is key to an acceptable electoral process.


He said, “Unless elections are conducted in an environment that is peaceful and secure, its integrity and even the legitimacy of the outcome of that election will be questioned.


“As we look forward to the 2023 general elections, there is increasing apprehension that the pervasive insecurity situation in the country may present a formidable obstacle if not an obstruction to that election.
