Lagos police launch investigation as jeweller  accuses its officers of harassment The Lagos State Police Command said it has commenced an investigation into a viral video of a jeweller accusing some policemen in the Festac area of the state of harassing him.  The command disclosed this in an X post on Saturday. The video, which circulated on X on Saturday morning, shows the businessman engaged in a struggle with some policemen. Later in the video, the businessman could be seen with a bloody face after allegedly sustaining a cut beside his right eye during the struggle with the police officers,  The jeweller later explained that the policemen from the Festac Division had stopped him for a routine search.  Bandits In Sokoto Burn 42 Passengers


Gunmen suspected to be bandits yesterday burnt scores of passengers traveling from Sabon Birni local government area to Sokoto town.


The incident which occurred at about 9am in the morning happened around Gidan Bawa village where the terrorists always referred to as bandits blocked the road and set the vehicle ablaze.


The Sokoto State Police spokesperson, ASP Sanusi Abubakar, confirmed the incident, noting however that those killed might be about 17.


PRESIDENT BUHARI MOURNS VICTIMS OF BANDITS IN SOKOTO 


President Buhari has expressed sadness over the recent gruesome attack on innocent travellers in Sokoto State. 

Reacting to the incident on Wednesday, President Buhari said, “I am very distressed at the manner of death visited on these hapless citizens who were undertaking a legitimate journey to another part of the country. 

“It shows that the evil this administration is confronting is one that requires the support and involvement of all Nigerians. 

“I extend deep condolences to the families of the victims as I assure that the security agencies will continue to give their all to bring to an end the operations of these despicable people.”
