 LASG HOSTS Y2024 WOMEN'S ASSEMBLY TO EMPOWER, CELEBRATE WOMEN Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to advancing and empowering women, describing them as the pillars of communities, contributing in numerous ways as mothers, entrepreneurs, educators and leaders.  Governor Sanwo-Olu stated this in his keynote address at the 2024 Women's Assembly for Local Government and Local Council Development Areas organised by the Ministry of Women's Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) at the De Blue Roof, LTV 8 complex, Agindigbi Ikeja.  The Governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Governor, Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, described the Assembly as a critical platform for celebrating women’s contributions and tackling challenges affecting their well-being. Christmas: Gov. Buni of Yobe flags off distribution of foodstuffs to 633 vulnerable Christian households in Yobe. 


Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe, who is also the National caretaker Chairman of APC flagged off distribution of food items to 633 vulnerable Yobe Christian households to celebrate Christmas. 


The food items were presented to the beneficiaries today in Damaturu by the focal Person of Northeast Development Commission Yobe state chapter, Dr. Ali Ibrahim Abbas.


Dr. Abbas said the gesture is a directive of Governor Mai Mala Buni with supports from the state government and Northeast Development Commission.


The flagging off took place in Damaturu today and will continue in Gashua and Potiskum respectively.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
