The team grouped into two stormed Awka and Onitsha and environs sealing off business premises and issuing demand notices to defaulters who over the years have failed to pay their taxes after several warnings by the agency.

The premises sealed included banks, telecommunication offices, delivery agencies, laboratory centers among others and saw the enforcement teams serve the organizations court orders before sealing and locking up the premises for non payments of stamp duty.

At each of the different premises, the task force explained that the office has a responsibility to administer the revenue laws of the State, and have over time been distributing demand notices to people in the area of business premises registration.

He noted that the business premises law demands that whoever opens a business in Anambra state must register and always pay their taxes to avoid running foul against the law.

Customers were  devastated and worried, wondering why most reputable organizations who understand better the law will subject them to untold suffering, as most of them have been at each of the locations as early as 7am, waiting to be attended to by the agencies.
