 A 28-year-old man allegedly set his girlfriend’s house on fire after she refused his marriage proposal in Anandpur village, Bhadrak district, Odisha. The accused, Jyoti Ranjan Das, a resident of Vidyadharpur village, has been on the run since the incident. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, police said on Wednesday. According to the victim, Jyoti had been pressuring her to marry him and even threatened to leak private photos if she did not agree. She also accused him of issuing death threats and attempting to force her into meeting him multiple times. When she refused his advances, Jyoti allegedly resorted to arson, setting her house on fire. The blaze destroyed five sheds and reduced valuables worth Rs 15 lakh, including gold jewellery, furniture, food grains, and important documents, to ashes. …Says Some IPOB Leaders Actions Jeopardising His Release 



Elder statesman, and first republic minister, Mbazulike Amechi has threatened to withdraw from the efforts aimed at securing release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. 


In a widely circulated viral message, the 92 year-old former Aviation minister said that the actions of some IPOB members were jeopardising ongoing efforts to secure the release of the IPOB leader. 


The message reads;


“I have personally contacted Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor (IPOB Lawyer), and expressed my concerns and sought his intervention, about the action of some IPOB leaders which is endangering the ongoing discussion and negotiation about the release of Nnamdi Kanu, and the Igbo question. Their  sit -at - home order is ruining the Igbo economy and sabotaging the effort to release Nnamdi Kanu. 

They must stop their actions and ulterances which make the release of their learder more difficult. If they don't, I will withdraw my own efforts”.
