 Lagos Court Jails NOGASA Chair, Fatuyi Phillips 21 Years  for N43.5m Fraud    Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday, November 18, 2024, convicted and sentenced Fatuyi Yemi Philips, Chairman, Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria, NOGASA, to 21 years imprisonment for N43.5m fraud.   The Lagos Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on April 5, 2022, arraigned Philips alongside his firm, Oceanview Oil and Gas Limited, on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N43, 502,000.00   Count one reads: "Fatuyi Yemi Philips and Oceanview Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited, on or about the 28th day of September, 2016 at Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud, obtained the aggregate sum of N43, 502,000.00 from Elochukwu Okoye and Elebana Unique Ventures Nigeria Limited on behalf of WAPCIL Nigeria Limited under the false rep

 RADIO LAGOS, BRAZIL TO COLLABORATE ON EXCHANGE PROGRAMMES, TRAINING


Radio Lagos/Eko FM and the Consulate of Brazil are set to collaborate on cultural exchange programmes and scholarship training opportunities for members of staff.


This was revealed during a recent courtesy visit by the management of the Radio Lagos/Eko FM to the Consul-General, Consulate of Brazil, Lagos, Ambassador Francisco Luz.


During the visit, the General Manager, Radio Lagos/Eko FM, Mr. Jide Lawal, expressed the desire to establish a working relationship with the Consulate because Brazil has a rich cultural heritage similar to that of Lagos.


He noted that the country is also well known for its colourful carnivals, samba football and huge population, stating the need for both entities to build an enduring relationship.


Lawal urged the Consul-General to engage Radio Lagos/Eko FM for the effective dissemination of relevant information about the Consulate's activities, as well as the traditions and cultural activities of Brazil, for interested members of the public.


Responding, the Consul-General, Consulate of Brazil, Lagos, Ambassador Francisco Luz thanked the delegation for the visit, pledging to collaborate and establish a working relationship with the Station, especially on cultural exchange programmes and scholarship opportunities.


He stated that the year 2022 is a special year for Brazil as it celebrates its Bicentenary Independence anniversary on September 7 and holds its General Elections in October 2022.


The Consul-General stated that the Yoruba Language is an elective subject in Universities in Brazil while many training schools are available for journalists, just as he revealed that bilateral trade between Nigeria and Brazil is also growing despite the COVID-19 pandemic.


The Ambassador gave an assurance that the Consulate would patronise Radio Lagos/Eko FM platforms to disseminate news and programmes on its upcoming activities such as the Aje Festival, the 200th Independence Anniversary and its General Elections coming up later in the year.
