Don’t blame Nollywood For Ritual Killings, Actor Yul Edochie Replies House of Reps

Actor Yul Edochie has responded to the House of Representatives claims that Nollywood is partly to be blamed for the increase in the rate of ritual killings across the country.

During the plenary on Wednesday, the House of Representatives called for the declaration of a state of emergency on ritual killings in the country and partly blamed the menace on the Nollywood industry and tasked all stakeholders to begin a national campaign to change the orientation of the people towards the crime.

Reacting to the House of Reps' indictment on Friday, the actor on his Instagram page said, “From when I was a kid in the eighties, I started hearing about ritual killing in Nigeria. Then, there was no Nollywood. Hunger and poverty make people to do crime. No, be Nollywood cause am. Nollywood is only showing what happens in society. Nigerians are wallowing in extreme poverty. A hungry man is an angry man.”

“Fix the country and crime will go away. Don’t blame Nollywood,” he advised.
