 Kaduna Targets ₦120bn IGR In 2026 — KADIRS Chairman   Kaduna State has set an Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) target of ₦120 billion for the 2026 fiscal year, with the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS) expected to play a central role in achieving the target. The Executive Chairman of KADIRS, Jerry Adams, FCTI, FNIM, FCE, CNA, disclosed this during the Service’s Annual Performance Review, Work Plan, and Strategic Retreat.  He explained that although the state government approved ₦74 billion as KADIRS’ official revenue target, the Service raised its internal benchmark to ₦80.09 billion to motivate staff to exceed expectations. He further stated that the proposed 2026 budget by the Kaduna State Planning and Budget Commission stands at ₦117.28 billion, with KADIRS expected to generate ₦74.28 billion, while Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) are projected to generate ₦43.24 billion. Fire Guts 10 Shops At Eke Oyibo Market Amawbia. 



Traders at popular Eke Oyibo Market, Amawbia, Awka South Local Government Area are crying over their losses after fire razed ten shops and destroyed goods worth millions of naira. 

The incident occurred in the early hours of today, Friday 18th February 2022. 

The cause of the fire incident are still sketchy as at the time of filing this report.

At the science, the Transition Committee Chairman, Awka South Local Government Area, Mr Leo Nwuba expressed deep sorrow at the magnitude of losses suffered by the victims and commiserated with the traders for the loss of goods ,assuring them of government's intervention. 

Mr Nwuba harped on need for fire safety consciousness to reduce the rate of fire incidents in the state. 

In an interview, the President General of Amawbia Town Union, Sir Godwin Aronu assured that a lasting solution to prevent future occurrences would be fashioned out to safeguard lives and material losses in future, saying this current trend cannot continue .

Also speaking,The Chairman of Eke Oyibo Market Amawbia, Mr Peter Nwogbo commended the gallantry of the youths of the market, fire service officials and other security personnel who came immediately to the scence to stem the spread of the inferno.

One of the traders whose shop was razed, Mrs Blessing Igbo was still awestruck as she watched her shop burnt down by the ravaging fire.

On her part ,Mrs Ebele Anagor appealed to well meaning individuals, the state government and public spirited to come to their aid.
