 LASG HOSTS Y2024 WOMEN'S ASSEMBLY TO EMPOWER, CELEBRATE WOMEN Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to advancing and empowering women, describing them as the pillars of communities, contributing in numerous ways as mothers, entrepreneurs, educators and leaders.  Governor Sanwo-Olu stated this in his keynote address at the 2024 Women's Assembly for Local Government and Local Council Development Areas organised by the Ministry of Women's Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) at the De Blue Roof, LTV 8 complex, Agindigbi Ikeja.  The Governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Governor, Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, described the Assembly as a critical platform for celebrating women’s contributions and tackling challenges affecting their well-being. New Anambra NUJ Exco Continues Familiarization Visit With Unizik VC, Prof. Esimone, VC Paul University Awka, Venerable Prof Nwosu, And Deputy VC Paul University Awka, Professor Okunna 



The newly elected Executive of the Anambra state Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, led by its Chairman, Dr Odogwu Emeka Odogwu has continued its familiarization visits with visits to the Vice Chancellor the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Professor Charles Esimone, his Paul University Awka counterpart, Venerable Professor Obiora Nwosu, as well as Paul University Awka, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Stella Okunna, to seek for cordial relationship between the union and the institutions.


During the visits, the Anambra NUJ officials were warmly received by their hosts at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka and Paul University Awka respectively.


Addressing the delegation, Professors Esimone and Venerable Professor Nwosu commended the state council of the NUJ for believing in Dr Odogwu and his executive members, and assured to continue to give the union all necessary support.


They respectively solicited for the continuous support of journalists in the state, acknowledging the fact that no organization survives without the assistance of the media.


On her part, the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Paul University Awka, Professor Okunna, while describing the Anambra council of the NUJ as the best in Nigeria, encouraged members to always support the present administration led by Dr Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, which she believed will reposition the union for the good of both journalists in the state and the society in general.


Earlier, the incumbent Anambra NUJ Chairman, Dr Odogwu who appreciated the Unizik VC for all his supports to him during and the Anambra NUJ election, reemphasized on the commitment of his administration to redefine journalism profession, and promised that the union will assist in no small measure to ensure that the institutions is given its rightful place on the global academic map.


In votes of thanks, the Vice Chairman of the Anambra NUJ, Comrade Ngozi Obileri of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, and the Secretary of the union, Comrade Aloysius Ofordile thanked Unizik VC, Professor Esimone and that of Paul University, Professor Nwosu for the warmed reception accorded them during the visit, and promised that the union will continue to play its part to ensure that the relationship between the institutions and the union is maintained.


Members of the union present during the event include the Secretary of the union, Comrade Aloysius Ofordile, Treasurer, Comrade Ogemdi Ozoemenam, Comrade John Ndu, Financial Secretary, Comrade Okechukwu Onuegbu, Assistant Secretary, among others.
