 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali. ADDITIONAL 301 EVACUEES ARRIVE ABUJA. (PHOTO).


Additional 301 evacuees arrive Abuja 



It was a scene of mixed feelings as another batch of 301 Evacuees mostly students from Sumy State University Budapest, Hungary arrived Abuja yesterday 

The 301 Nigerians from Budapest Hungary arrived the country aboard Asman Air.

The aircraft arrived at exactly 8.45pm and 
Ambassador Bolaji Akinremi was on hand to receive them on behalf of the Federal Government.

A mother was seen, shedding tears of joy as 4 of her children were amongst the evacuees. 

A medical student of the Sumy State University, Deborah Ayoola is happy to arrived in peace as she had been very scared but thanked God she was able to pass through.
