 Lagos Court Jails NOGASA Chair, Fatuyi Phillips 21 Years  for N43.5m Fraud    Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday, November 18, 2024, convicted and sentenced Fatuyi Yemi Philips, Chairman, Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria, NOGASA, to 21 years imprisonment for N43.5m fraud.   The Lagos Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on April 5, 2022, arraigned Philips alongside his firm, Oceanview Oil and Gas Limited, on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N43, 502,000.00   Count one reads: "Fatuyi Yemi Philips and Oceanview Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited, on or about the 28th day of September, 2016 at Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud, obtained the aggregate sum of N43, 502,000.00 from Elochukwu Okoye and Elebana Unique Ventures Nigeria Limited on behalf of WAPCIL Nigeria Limited under the false rep

CHIEF OF ARMY STAFF CHARGES COMMANDING OFFICERS TO THINK OUT OF BOX IN DEALING WITH CONTEMPORARY CHALLENGES



The Chief of Army Staff ( COAS) Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya has charged the Commanding Officers of the Nigerian Army to think out of box in coming up with well thought out strategies in dealing with contemporary security challenges in a joint environment across the country. He made the charge during the opening ceremony of first commanding officers Workshop on Monday 28 February 2022 at Headquarters 82 Division Enugu.

The COAS who was represented by the Corps Commander Nigerian Army Engineers Maj Gen Kamilu Kadiri urged the participants to pay deep attention to the lectures and actively participate in discussions so that they would achieve a positive change of attitude to training and conduct of operations across theatres.

Lt Gen Yahaya added that in order to achieve the desired end- state which is defeat of the adversary, there is the need to enhance the capacity of officers and soldiers through continuous training. He n
lamented that the inadequate training of personnel in a joint environment as the major problem affecting successful military operations in the country.

The COAS pledged that Nigerian Army would at all times remain resilient and committed in defending the integrity of Nigeria through uncompromising training program. He commended the General Officer Commanding 82 Division, his Officers and soldiers for putting good preparations to ensure a successful workshop.

The 5 days workshop attracted participants from South East, South West and South South as well as representatives of Security Agencies. It is aimed at equipping the participants with requisite command and leadership skills to function optimally. The theme of the workshop is “Enhancing the Capacity of Commanding Officers for Effective Operations in a joint Environment."
