Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo today, Wednesday, April 27, 2022, visited a patrol officer attached to the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Mr Ikechukwu Egwu, who survived unknown gunmen attack along Igbo-Ukwu/Uga Road early this month.

Professor Soludo, who was represented by his deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, thanked God for the survivor and condemned incessant attacks by hoodlums on security agents in the state.

Recall that unidentified gunmen, on Sunday, April 3rd, 2022, attacked a patrol team of the FRSC stationed on Igbo-Ukwu/UGA Road, killing two operatives and injuring Assistant Route Commander Ikechukwu Egwu.

Arriving at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku Awka, where the patient is currently receiving treatments, Dr Ibezim, a medical practitioner, accompanied by the Anambra State Sector Commander of FRSC, Mr Adeoye Irelewuyi, commended the hospital management for its excellent medical care, expressing confidence that the patient, who is already recuperating, would soon get back to his feet.

The Deputy Governor, described the FRSC as armless body of security agencies in Nigeria with statutory responsibilities, hence finds no reason for such mindless attack.

Dr Ibezim stated that embarking on reckless bloodshed does not define any form of agitation which could ordinarily be sorted out through dialogue.

On his part, the Anambra FRSC boss, Mr Irelewuyi, appreciated the state government for giving strong backing to the Corps, restating that officers and men of the Corps in the state are not deterred by any circumstance.

The Chief Medical Director, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku Awka, Dr Joe Akabuike, who stated that bullet wounds sustained by the patient were not badly severe, expressed hope that he would soon be discharged having receiving intensive medicare.

The patient, Mr Egwu said he was hopeful that in no distant time he will resume work.
