 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali. Anambra State Fire Service Celebrates 2022 International Firefighters Day.



Today marks another milestone in the lives of firefighters as Anambra State Fire Service joins the world to celebrate 2022 International Firefighters Day.

The Anambra State Fire Service is celebrating the day with a road show which commenced from the headquarters of the agency at Agu Awka through Arroma Junction, Raegina Caeli Junction, UNIZIK tempsite, Kwata junction.

Earlier in his address, the Fire Chief of the State, Engineer Martin Agbili, said the celebration gives them a chance to honour and thank every firefighter everywhere.

According to him, it is also a time for the world to recognize and honour the sacrifices that firefighters make to ensure that their communities and environments are as safe as possible.

The theme of this year's celebration is "Rise Above The Challenge".
