THE MET GALA KICKS OFF TODAY BY 6PM E.T,STAY TUNED FOR FASHION UPDATES ON MY BLOG.(PHOTOS).

Call it the Party of the Year, call it the Oscars of the East Coast, call it fashion’s biggest night. Any way you slice it, the Met Gala is an evening to remember, and we’re here to help you do that with our Met Gala red carpet live blog.

Tonight’s event is the coming out ball for “In America: An Anthology of Fashion.” Part two of curator Andrew Bolton’s in-depth look at American style, the exhibition explores the work of famous names in fashion (Halston, Oscar de la Renta, Bill Blass, etc.) and those that have been overlooked (like Ann Lowe, the African American maker of Jacqueline

Kennedy’s wedding gown), with approximately 100 garments presented across 13 of the Met’s American period rooms, each of which has been styled by renowned film directors, from Martin Scorsese to Julia Dash, Sofia Coppola to Chloe Zhao.

The evening benefits the Costume Institute (a typical Met Gala generates an eight-figure sum for the museum) and will be hosted by Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Regina King, who put on her director’s cap to bring one of the period rooms to life. They’ll be joined by honorary co-chairs Anna Wintour, Tom Ford, and Instagram’s Adam Mosseri, plus a who’s who of the world’s biggest stars—all of whom have been briefed on the “gilded glamour” dress code. What will they wear? Expect plenty of risks. “What’s wonderful about the Met is that people feel very fearless,” says Anna Wintour.

At the bottom of every Met Gala invitation is an inscription small in size but vital in importance: the dress code. For tonight’s event “In America: An Anthology of Fashion,” it will be gilded glamour, white tie.

The Met Gala is where celebrities ascend to style icon status. On the first Monday in May, stars don’t just walk the red carpet, they climb the steps of the Metropolitan Museum in statement couture presenting their interpretation of the exhibition’s theme to the entire world. See the Met’s best dressed guests of all time.

The 2022 Met Gala takes place in New York City tonight at 6:00 p.m.

Stay turned for fashion updates.
