 LASG HOSTS Y2024 WOMEN'S ASSEMBLY TO EMPOWER, CELEBRATE WOMEN Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to advancing and empowering women, describing them as the pillars of communities, contributing in numerous ways as mothers, entrepreneurs, educators and leaders.  Governor Sanwo-Olu stated this in his keynote address at the 2024 Women's Assembly for Local Government and Local Council Development Areas organised by the Ministry of Women's Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) at the De Blue Roof, LTV 8 complex, Agindigbi Ikeja.  The Governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Governor, Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, described the Assembly as a critical platform for celebrating women’s contributions and tackling challenges affecting their well-being. BOXING: GOLDEN BOY DEFEATED AZEEZ AYOBAMI YESTERDAY AT THE GOTV NIGHT,OGUN STATE. (PHOTOS).

Unbeaten Sodiq "Golden Boy" Oyakojo upsets hometown favorite Nigerian ranked number nine lightweight contender Azeez "Latest" Ayobami Saturday June 4, 2022 on GOTv night at Liberty Stadium by majority decession.  Oyakojo who was a last minute replacement displayed that he was a better boxer and improved his pro boxing record to (2-0) 1 KO.  Alaba "Elibow" Omotola also unbeaten with a pro boxing record of (3-0) 1KO  was the boxer scheduled to face Azeez "Latest" Ayomide but deal fail apart due to proper agreement.  Omotola is expected to return to the ring next month July 2, 2022 at Alake Sports Complex in Abeokuta Ogun State, Nigeria. This card is expected to bring many top boxers in the Country. Omotola was named one of the best boxers in the Country by GOTv in 2019. He has maintained his unbeaten record to date. As an ambassador of the Sports, Omotola is doing fund raising in Akure, Ondo State for the Motherless babies homes. This is a boxer we should all watch out for and he is very good for Nigeria boxing. International offers and interest are coming in for this young talented boxer.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
