No good deed goes unpunished.  A Florida sea tow captain saved a man from a burning ship only to be shoved overboard and have his boat stolen. This shocking incident occurred near Marco Island on March 6th. On that date, a call went out regarding a burning boat. The captain of a sea tow boat heard the distress call and rushed to provide aid. He was able to quickly locate the burning boat and  discovered 40-year-old, Ryan Deiter, and his dog onboard the burning ship. Wasting no time, the captain of the sea tow boat was able to maneuver alongside the distressed boat and begin efforts to extricate Deiter and his dog from the doomed vessel.  Eventually, the sea tow captain was able to pull both Deiter and his dog onboard the tow boat. However, once Deiter was pulled to safety, he repaid a stranger's kindness with treachery.  Deiter shoved the captain from his own boat and fled the scene in the stolen boat, leaving the man who had just risked his own vessel and life...

Nigerian Nation needs a Servant Leader--Ezeokafor

By Regina Igwebuike

Amawbia (Awka South LGA), June 27, 2022 (MOI) The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor says the Nigerian Nation needs a servant leadership that will weed the nation of selfish and unpatriotic leadership.

Ezeokafor said this in a homily to mark the centenary celebration of the Sacred Heart League and the 10th World Meeting of Families (WOMF) by the diocese held at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, Amawbia on June 26.

He urged all to equip themselves with their Permanent Voter's Cards (PVCs), describing it as the only tool to usher in the needed transformational change if properly used.

The prelate advised those yet to get the (PVCs) to maximize the opportunity of the extension exercise to get theirs, explaining that it is against the "11th commandment" for one not to perform the civic responsibilities.

Ezeokafor urged the youths, pensioners and labour unions to join forces together in ensuring that the right candidates emerged during this forthcoming 2023 general elections.

"The collective efforts of all groups has the ability of ending bad governance in Nigeria."

The prelate while saying that everyone has a role to play for a better Nigeria, expressed optimism that the votes would be counted as was done during the Gubernatorial election in Anambra.

Ezeokafor while noting that there is hunger in the country, urged all to eschew money politics, which he said will usher the liberation needed in the country.

"Stop mortgaging the future of the young generation with peanuts, shine your eyes, vote wisely for credible candidates to emerge that will offer effective representation.

"Vote for people with antecedents to offer effective leadership not money barons to avoid marring our future," he advised.

Speaking on the theme of this year's WOMF 'Family Love; A Vocation and a Path to Holiness', Ezeokafor said "the family is the school of the gospel and the communion of love which has a great spiritual fecundity, which is united by filial friendships among its members.

"Family is a domestic church, the foundational cell of the church where we first learnt who God is, what he wants from us and to prayerfully seek his will for us."

He urged the ideal couples selected from Adazi, Nimo and Awka regions to always be pacesetters to other families, urging every family to look to the holy icon of the holy family of Nazareth.

Ezeokafor, then, prayed for true liberty among the different peoples and nations of the world as well as for unity and peace within the Catholic Church on earth.

The renewal of vows, consecration of Sacred Heart members and the installation of the ideal couples formed part of the Mass celebration. (MOI)
