Sexual Slavery: Anambra Women Affairs Ministry To Rehabilitate 35 Underage Girls

The Anambra State Ministry of Women Affairs, Children and Social Welfare has expressed concern over the rate of moral decadence in the society.

The Commissioner, Ify Obinabo, who stated this in an exclusive interview with reporters, mentioned that the rate of moral decadence was alarming as evident in the discovery of a hotel at Nkpor Idemili-North local government area where 35 underage girls used as sex slaves, prostitutes and baby sellers were rescued by police operatives recently.

Obinabo explained that such level of rot and decadence were non-existent in the past when young people respected as well as honoured moral values of decency and discipline and parents took cognizance of the type of friends and companies their children kept, especially the female ones.

She stated that the ministry would rehabilitate the  35 teenage girls rescued and that children got from the location would be in the custody of her ministry.

She said, “If you ask me, I don’t think those girls were forced. It is just the moral decadence in society. I will always go back to the parents; you didn’t see your girl child for one day, one week, one month, two months and all that and you don’t care. You just relax in the house.”
