 Abia Police Arrest Butcher for Stabbing Customer in Neck Over Meat Price Dispute   The Abia State Police Command has arrested a butcher for allegedly stabbing his customer in the neck with a pair of scissors during a heated argument over the price of meat at Orie Ugba Market in Umuahia. Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Maureen Chinaka, confirmed the incident in a statement released on Monday, March 16, 2026. According to the police spokesperson, the altercation occurred on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the busy Orie Ugba Market when the victim and the suspect disagreed over the cost of meat. “The Abia State Police Command is aware of the incident that occurred at Orieugba Market on 14/03/2026, where a meat butcher stabbed his customer in the neck with a pair of scissors following a disagreement over the price of meat,” DSP Chinaka stated. CLARIFICATION ON ELECTRONIC TRANSMISSiON OF ELECTION RESULT

The Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC) attention has been drawn to misunderstanding arising from a short interview granted to a national newspaper on 
the procedure for result managerment during elections Some have Interpreted the explanation e transmission of result management procedure to mean that the Commission has jettisoned

the electronic transmission of result and reverted to the manual process. This is not correct.

Far clarity, the procedure for result transmission remains the same as in recent
Governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun States. There will be no change in all future
elections, including the 2023 General Election.

We wish to reassure Nigerians that the electronic transmission ot result has come to stay. It
as to tne crelbiy and transpareney or the process when citizens tonow poling unie ever

no change or deviation in subsenuent l OEctIOn Day. There will be

The entire gamut of result management is provided for in Sections 60, 62 and 64 of the

Electoral Act 2022 In line with the provision the aw, tne ommisson, in Apntns year,
released a detailed ciaritication of thee procedure tor transmission, collation and declaration
of result which was shared with all stakeholders and uploaded to our website.

We appeal to all Nigerians to avail themselves of the provisions of the Electoral Act and the

Commission's detailed explanation of the procedure and not reach a conclusion on the basis
of media headlines.
