 Terrorists, banditry activities in Northwest have reduced – Shehu Sani Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central Senator, has disclosed a decrease in the activities of terrorists and bandits in the Northwest. Sani said the recent killings of some top terrorists’ leaders could have been responsible for the decrease. Posting on X, the former lawmaker wrote: “In the last few weeks, there is a noticeable decrease in terrorist and banditry attacks and kidnappings in the North Western parts of this country. “The elimination of some of the top terrorist leaders must have been responsible.This is commendable and should be sustained.” In the past weeks, notable bandit leaders have been killed in the North. Those eliminated include- Haliru Kachalla Sububu or Buzu, Kachalla Tukur Sharme (killed by rival gang), Sani Black, another prominent bandit leader, killed along with his brother and two children, Kachalla Makore, Kachalla Mai Shayi Kachalla Tsoho Lulu and Mai’Yar Gitta. Troops rescue three persons along Zaria-Kano Road 

Security agencies have reported that three persons were rescued by troops conducting patrols around Ungwan Namama, along the Zaria-Kano road. 

According to the feedback, the troops came in contact with migrating bandits in the area and engaged them, forcing them to abandon their three captives as they hastily escaped. 

The troops then rescued the victims, identified as follows: 

- Abdullahi Lawal 
- Sadiya Salimanu 
- Fatima Salimanu (Sadiya's 10-month-old child) 

Investigations revealed that the captives were kidnapped in a neighbouring state.

Also recovered from the bandits were nine rustled animals, comprising one cow and eight sheep. 

The Kaduna State Government thanked the troops for their valiant action in rescuing the kidnapped victims. 

The rescued persons have been reunited with their families, while the recovered animals were handed over to local authorities for proper identification and retrieval.
