 U.S. Attorney moves to dismiss vandalism charge against former Olympian David Hearn U.S. Attorney for Washington, D.C., Jeanine Pirro has filed a motion to dismiss the vandalism case against former Olympic canoeist David Hearn, citing new findings about damage at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. Court documents filed on Friday, July 31, state that the damage was caused by flaws in the pool's installation rather than Hearn's actions. Hearn, 67, was arrested on June 19 after reaching into the recently renovated Reflecting Pool during a 52-mile bike ride. He later said he had stopped to examine a detached piece of liner before he was arrested. According to the filing, the Department of the Interior initially provided incomplete information, and further review showed the damage resulted from a faulty installation, not vandalism. 23 Remaining Abuja-Kaduna Train Attack Victims, Regain Freedom

Terrorists said to belong to Boko Haram on Wednesday released 23 remaining captives of the Kaduna train attack of March 28, 2022.

This was disclosed by the Secretary of the Chief of Defence Staff Action Committee (CDSAC), Prof. Usman Yusuf in a statement on Wednesday.

Yusuf said that the hostages were released at about 4pm on Wednesday.

He said the “seven-man Presidential Committee assembled by the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General L.E.O. Irabor secured the release and took custody of all the 23 remaining passengers held hostage by Boko Haram terrorists following the attack on the Abuja to Kaduna train on 28-3-2022”.

Some terrorists on March 28 attacked the Kaduna-bound train, killing about 10 passengers and kidnapping scores of others.

“The nation owes a debt of gratitude to the Nigerian Military under the leadership of the CDS who conceived and guided the operation from start to finish. All sister security agencies and the Federal Ministry of Transportation contributed immensely to this operation,” the statement said.
