Rebels to withdraw from key DR Congo town 'after US request' The M23 rebel group has said it would withdraw from the eastern DR Congo town of Uvira at the request of the US administration, which had criticised seizure of the town last week as a threat to mediation efforts. The rebels entered Uvira, on the border with Burundi, less than a week after the presidents of Congo and Rwanda met with US President Donald Trump in Washington and affirmed their commitment to a peace deal known as the Washington Accords. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Saturday that Rwanda's actions in eastern Congo violated the Washington Accords and vowed to "take action to ensure promises made to the President are kept." A report by a United Nations group of experts in July said Rwanda exercised command and control over the rebels. MOHAMMED, AT THE 8TH EDITION OF THE ''PMB ADMINISTRATION SCORECARD
SERIES (2015-2023)'' IN ABUJA ON WEDNESDAY, DEC. 7TH 2022

PROTOCOL

2. I warmly welcome you all to the eight edition of the 'PMB Administration Scorecard Series (2015-2023)'. On Monday, we hosted the Honourable Minister of Water Resources. Today, it is the turn of the Honourable Minister of Environment. And before them, we had presentations from the Honourable Ministers of:

- Works and Housing
- Transportation
- Aviation
- Interior
- Agriculture and Rural Development
- Finance, Budget and National Planning

On Thursday Dec. 8, that is tomorrow, we will be hosting the Honourable Minister of Mines and Steel Development.

3. As a quick reminder of why we are here, recall that we launched this series in October as part of an overall programme aimed at showcasing and documenting the numerous achievements of the Buhari Administration.

4. Before I invite the Honourable Minister of Environment to the podium, please permit me to say categorically and without any fear of contradiction that the Administration’s fight against corruption is very much on track. As you may already know Mr President signed into law the Proceeds of Crime (Recovery and Management) Bill, 2022, on May 12th, 2022. That bill was one of the three which Mr. President signed into law that day. Others are the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Bill, 2022 and the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Bill, 2022.

5. I have an update on the Proceeds of Crime (Recovery and Management) Act (POCA), 2022. In line with the new law, all relevant agencies of government have now opened 'Confiscated and Forfeiture Properties Account with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). I can confirm that so far, the Federal Government has realized over 120 billion Naira, among other currencies, from POCA. This money will be used to fund the completion of ongoing critical infrastructure projects in the country like the Second Niger Bridge as well as Lagos-Ibadan and Abuja-Kano Expressways. We will continue to update you on this.

6. On this note, please permit me to invite the Honourable Minister of Environment to make his presentation. Honourable Minister please!
