CJN Bans Lawyers, Court Officials to Stop Using ‘Barrister’ as Official Title The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has directed lawyers, court officials and other legal personnel to discontinue the use of “Barrister” as a prefix to their names in all official engagements at the Supreme Court. The directive was contained in a memorandum dated July 13, 2026, and signed by the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Kabir Akanbi. The circular, which was addressed to litigation staff, legal practitioners, court registrars and lawyers, stated that the directive took immediate effect and was aimed at upholding professional standards within the apex court. Suspect Apprehended for Theft from a Mkondeni Business

On Sunday, Mi7 Armed Response was dispatched after an alarm activation at a Yarborough Road client’s premises. It is believed aluminum gutters were stolen from the premises. A description of the suspect was ascertained and patrols carried out in search of him.

Today, while on regular patrols in the Mkondeni area, Mi7 Reaction Officers spotted a man matching the description. With assistance from their counterparts from another security company, Mi7 Reaction Officers apprehended the suspect.

Upon questioning, the man admitted to the crime. The owner of the premises where the theft occurred was contacted and informed.
