 BENUE BOOSTS CHILD PROTECTION WITH GRADUATION OF 60 UNICEF-BACKED SOCIAL WORKERS  Benue State has taken a major step toward strengthening child protection and social welfare services with the graduation of 60 Auxiliary Social Workers (ASWs) trained to serve vulnerable children and families at the grassroots. Delta State to Host 7th National Youth Games 

ABUJA - (Federal Ministry of Sports & Youth Development Report) - The Federal Ministry of Sports and Youth Development has awarded the Hosting Rights for the 7th National Youth Games to Delta State.

The report issued from the Publicity Department of the Ministry on Thursday 5th January 2023 indicated that the choice of Delta State was reached at a meeting of Stakeholders for the Games, which held on the sidelines of the recently concluded 21st National Sports Festival.

While speaking on the initiative, the Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Sports and Youth Development, Alhaji Ismaila Abubakar stated that the National Youth Games has since inception become a veritable ground for harvesting the huge talents that abound within the country.

According to him,  many of the discovered athletes have been nurtured to elite level by the Ministry where several of them have been excelling at the international stage by posting podium performance for the country. He mentioned that other objectives of the Games are to promote national unity, curb age cheating in sports and youth restiveness as well as  establish a standard programme for athletes’ succession among others.

Ismaila Abubakar expressed the Ministry’s poise towards ensuring that the gains and objectives of the Youth Games are sustained in line with the Ministry’s determination to seek for an alternative hosting venue for the National Youth Games. 

He explained that the newly appointed Host State, Delta has indicated interest to host the Games at the Dennis Osadebay University, Asaba in Delta State. Adding, the State has equally affirmed its readiness to host the Games from February 8th - 18th 2023 as unanimously agreed by the stakeholders at a virtual meeting which took place on Wednesday January 4, 2023.
