 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville. Five Escape Death As Fire Razes Four Bedroom Apartment In Awka


Five people from different families, in the early hours of today escaped being burnt to death as fire razed a four-room apartment at Araba street Awka, Anambra State capital.


The incident, which started around 2 am in the morning, was suspected to have emanated from a spark from electrical connections in one of the rooms in the apartment.


Narrating the incident, an eyewitness and tenant at the Ikechukwu Anakor's compound, Mr. Ahmed Abubakar Idris; from Kogi State, said he started hearing explosion in the early hours of the day while he was still asleep, adding that aside his mobile phone, his certificates, laptop and a sophisticated (DI) machine were destroyed in the incident that defied individual efforts to extinguish it.


Contributing, son of the landlord of the compound, Mr. Agozie Anakor explained that gas cylinders in the room where the incident started helped escalate it, adding that but for individual efforts, the fire would have extended to other buildings around.


They solicited help from public-spirited individuals to help reduce attendant hardships, as properties worth millions of naira were destroyed before help could come.
