 TEAM LAGOS EMERGES TOP AT 23RD NATIONAL SPORTS FESTIVAL SOUTH WEST ELIMINATION Lagos State athletes proved their dominance in the South West by edging out regional competitors and emerging top in the five team events contested at the elimination series qualifier for the 23rd National Sports Festival later this year in Enugu. The elimination series featured team events in volleyball, basketball, football, beach volleyball, and cricket in male and female categories. While the team clinched only the female football ticket by topping their group, they showed dominance in three other sports by winning both the male and female tickets. Team Lagos took first position in the volleyball male and female categories. The male team defeated their counterparts from Ondo in the finals by 25-18, 24-26, 25-20, and 25-20, while the female team defeated Team Oyo by 25-18, 22-25, 28-26, 16-25, and 15-8. PMB ASKED SENATE TO CONFIRM EX-IGP 'ARASE' AS CHAIRMAN OF THE POLICE SERVICE COMMISSION. (PHOTO).#PRESS RELEASE.

President Muhammadu Buhari has asked the senate to confirm ex-IGP , Dr. Solomon Ehigiator Arase, as Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC)  !! 


Buhari’s request was contained in a letter read by Ahmad Lawan, the Senate President on the floor of the upper legislative chamber today.


The president based his request on sections 153 (1) and 154 (1) of the constitution as amended.


Born on June 21, 1956

Arase, the 18th IGP, retired as the head of the Nigeria Police Force about a year after President Buhari assumed office.


The former IGP was appointed by former President Goodluck Jonathan.


In October 2020, Femi Adesina, presidential spokesperson, quoted Buhari as saying he wished he worked with him longer.


“The president told me how much he had been impressed with Arase, and how he regretted that the man spent just about a year with him,” Adesina had said.


In a separate letter, Buhari asked the upper legislative chamber to confirm the reappointment of Mahmud Isa as resident electoral commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kebbi and the new appointment of Sani Ali for the same position in Ondo
