 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. Man Convicted In Makurdi for Airtime Fraud

The Makurdi Zonal Command of the EFCC on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, secured the conviction and sentencing of one Akende Gbande Mark before Justice N.I.Afolabi of the Federal High Court, sitting in Lafia, Nasarawa State on one count charge of fraud.  

Mark, sometime between July and September, 2020 in Makurdi, Benue State with intent to defraud did transfer airtime in the aggregate sum of N211,300 from Access Bank Account No. 3024934975 belonging to one Danjuma Bello to his Airtel line No. 08166413766 using an unauthorized access device and thereby committed an offence.

 The defendant pleaded 'guilty' to the charge. Upon his plea, the prosecution counsel, M. Yusuf prayed the Court to convict and sentence him as charged. 

Justice Afolabi convicted and sentenced Gbande to pay a fine of N150,000 (One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira) with a warning to desist from any criminal act forthwith. Failure to pay will cause him to serve a prison term of four months.
