 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville. Man Convicted In Makurdi for Airtime Fraud

The Makurdi Zonal Command of the EFCC on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, secured the conviction and sentencing of one Akende Gbande Mark before Justice N.I.Afolabi of the Federal High Court, sitting in Lafia, Nasarawa State on one count charge of fraud.  

Mark, sometime between July and September, 2020 in Makurdi, Benue State with intent to defraud did transfer airtime in the aggregate sum of N211,300 from Access Bank Account No. 3024934975 belonging to one Danjuma Bello to his Airtel line No. 08166413766 using an unauthorized access device and thereby committed an offence.

 The defendant pleaded 'guilty' to the charge. Upon his plea, the prosecution counsel, M. Yusuf prayed the Court to convict and sentence him as charged. 

Justice Afolabi convicted and sentenced Gbande to pay a fine of N150,000 (One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira) with a warning to desist from any criminal act forthwith. Failure to pay will cause him to serve a prison term of four months.
