 Catholic priest reportedly klled in Kogi  A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, has been reportedly killed by unknown assailants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. According to reports, the priest was stabbed multiple times along Ajaokuta road on Wednesday, 29th July 2026. His body was found dumped at the roadside.  Rev. Fr. Oyetoro was born in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State and a native of Ayetoro in Ijumu Local Government Area.  Until his death, he served as a priest at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Egbe. 5 Drown In Kano Boat Mishap 

Kano State Fire Service has confirmed the death of five people, in a boat mishap at Kanwa Dam in Madobi Local Government Area of the state.

The  Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, explained that, the boat conveying  11 people capsized leading to the death of five while  6 people  were rescued alive.

He highlighted that, the agency received a distress call from one Umar Faruk-Dalada, at about 05:40 pm

"There are 11 persons on the boat, but six were rescued alive, while five were rescued in an unconscious state"

Saminu maintained that, the deceased who are indegenea of Fagge local government area include  Abdulrazak Navara, Dalha Muktar Atamma, Mustapha Ibrahim, Umar Isah and Umar Idris. 

The public relations officer pointed out that, investigations into the boat mishap had commenced, and charged the public to maintain safety at all times.
