 ENUGU STATE POLICE COMMAND PRESS RELEASE YULETIDE SECURITY: ENUGU POLICE OPERATIVES BUST ARMED ROBBERY OPERATION, ARREST SUSPECT, RECOVER IMITATION GUN AND AMMUNITION The Enugu State Police Command has sustained its onslaught against criminal activities during the Yuletide season with the arrest of a male armed robbery suspect and the recovery of an imitation firearm and ammunition. The suspect, one Oshim Lambert Chimuanya (male, aged 28), was arrested on 13th December 2025 at about 11:30 p.m. while attempting to rob members of the public around Agric Bank Bus Stop, Independence Layout, Enugu, following a prompt response to a distress call by operatives of the Command attached to the Independence Layout Police Division. Upon arrival at the scene, the operatives apprehended the suspect in the act of robbing an unsuspecting young man and recovered from him one revolver imitation (toy) pistol loaded with eight toy bullets. EID-EL-FITR CELEBRATIONS: IGP CONGRATULATES MUSLIM UMMAH, ASSURES OF ADEQUATE SECURITY COVERAGE


- Puts Operatives on Alert

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, CFR, congratulates the entire Muslim ummah in the country on the forthcoming Eid-el-Fitr celebrations which is a culmination of the Ramadan period. He has also assured of continued efforts aimed at decimating crimes and criminality and improving public safety and security across the country. The IGP equally charged Commissioners of Police (CPs) and Tactical Commanders in all the States of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and their supervisory Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs), to beef-up security ahead of the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

The IGP has directed that supervisory AIGs and their respective CPs should ensure adequate deployment of officers and assets to critical locations most especially Eid Prayer Grounds and recreation centres to build confidence amongst the citizens and fun seekers. The Police Boss also charged officers and men of the Police Force to engage in critical assessment of threat-prone areas, thorough stop, and search, raids on black spots, and other anti-crime strategies capable of sustaining peace and public safety in Nigeria. The IGP however warned that personnel deployed must be professional and mindful of the fundamental rights of the citizens while discharging their responsibilities with all sense of decorum and alertness.   

In the same vein, the IGP enjoined Muslim faithful to celebrate and enjoy the beauty of the significant season while remaining security conscious. 

The IGP wishes all Muslims a happy and peaceful Sallah celebration.
