 Catholic priest reportedly klled in Kogi  A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, has been reportedly killed by unknown assailants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. According to reports, the priest was stabbed multiple times along Ajaokuta road on Wednesday, 29th July 2026. His body was found dumped at the roadside.  Rev. Fr. Oyetoro was born in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State and a native of Ayetoro in Ijumu Local Government Area.  Until his death, he served as a priest at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Egbe. FG Declares May 1st, Public Holiday

Federal Government has declared Monday 1st of May as Public Holiday to mark this year’s Workers Day Celebration.

Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola congratulated workers across the country on this year’s celebration.

Ogbeni Aregbesola commended workers for their hard work, diligence and sacrifice, noting that their efforts are largely responsible for the greatness of the country and the respect Nigeria now commands in the comity of nations.

According to the Minister, there is dignity in labour, we have to have dedication and commitment to the work you do, because it is vital to nation building.

He urged workers to imbibe the culture of productivity.

The Minister also urged workers to improve their craft in line with the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari’s drive to modernize the means of governance and ensure that every Nigerian receives the greatest benefits from the country.

He lauds the security services for the fight against crime nationwide and exhorts them to keep up the good work and never give up on stopping criminals whenever they rear their heads.

The Minister therefore urges Nigerians to be part of the nation’s security architecture by being vigilant and reporting suspicious individuals and activities to law enforcement agencies nearest to them.

He urges the citizens to make use of the N-Alert Application on Android and iOS.
