 IGP DISU PAYS OPERATIONAL VISIT TO  AKWA IBOM, PRESIDES OVER PASSING-OUT CEREMONY OF 1,068 RETRAINED CONSTABLES The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, today, 30th April 2026, undertook an official visit to Akwa Ibom State, where he paid a courtesy call on the Executive Governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, ahead of the passing-out ceremony of retrained Police Constables in Uyo. FG Earmarks $1.2M For Evacuation Of Nigerians From Sudan

Federal Government has earmarked $1.2 million to procure 40 buses for the evacuation of Nigerians stranded in Sudan.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, told Journalists after the Federal Executive Council Meeting on Wednesday that the government will take advantage of the 72-hour ceasefire in Sudan to evacuate Nigerians trapped in the war ravaged country as arrangements have been reached with the Sudanese Government.

During the evacuation, priority will not be accorded any diplomat, he said, adding that the government will prioritise women and children.

No Nigerian had died in the war, he remarked, stressing that the first batch of Nigerians were already being evacuated to Egypt, where they will be airlifted to the country.

Some Nigerians have already been transported to Saudi Arabia for airlifting, the Minister added.
