 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. GOV. ORTOM OF BENUE ORDERS INVESTIGATION INTO WASTE DISPOSAL SYSTEM OF PURE BIOTECH LTD

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has directed the Commissioners for Water and Environment, Industries and Cooperatives, as well as Agriculture and Natural Resources, to immediately investigate the report that Pure Biotech Company Limited located along Makurdi – Gboko road has a sewage disposal system that empties waste into River Benue thereby contaminating the water and endangering aquatic life in the river.


The Governor through his Special Adviser, Media & Publicity, Terver Akase, said he expects the three Commissioners to report back to him with their findings as quickly as possible, for the next line of action.


He commended the patriotic disposition of the Benue Hike Tourism group who raised alarm over the matter and gives assurance that his administration will continue to accord priority to the safety of Benue people.


Governor Ortom urged people of the state to sustain their vigilance and always assist the government with timely and useful information on happenings around them.
