Soludo Reiterates Commitment to Make Anambra Liveable

The Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Soludo has reiterated the State Government's commitment to make our homeland sustainably clean, green and liveable for the betterment of Ndi Anambra.
Soludo who stressed the need to dispose refuse properly for a clean Anambra said that it would add to the aesthetics of the state.
The governor said this on April 6 at St. Patrick's Cathedral, Awka during the Chrism/Cathedraticum Mass officiated by the Chief Shepherd of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor.
He urged commercial drivers to have waste bin in their vehicles where passengers can throw in dirts instead of littering the street with refuse.
Soludo who was represented by the Chief of Staff, Mr Ernest Ezeajughi explained that cleanliness of the enviroment and opening of drainages are priorities to avoid sickness and outbreak of diseases, saying that government would do the needful to clean the state and make it liveable.
Emphasizing that the earlier impunity of keeping the state dirty will fizzle out for good, the governor noted that on March 31 that he undertook the flag off of the clean, green and sustainable programme in the state aimed at turning it into a liveable, pleasurable and prosperous destination of choice.
He said that the exercise was extended to 21 LGAs on April I with the Deputy Governor, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim driving the charge, calling on Ndi Anambra to hold fast to the dictum that says "cleanliness is next to godliness" by saying no to indiscriminate disposal of refuse.
The governor explained that Anambra with the smallest land mass is losing its land to erosion, emphasizing that through massive tree planting that the state could reclaim the depleting land, which has posed danger to the state.
Soludo, then, promised to build a smart mega city said that he is determined to deliver on everything he promised aimed at making Anambra a new axis of prosperity.
On security, he said that Anambra is currently far safer than it was a year ago, promising to reclaim our homeland by working with the legislative and judiciary to maintain law and order.
The governor noted that he has already declared a state of emergency on road crises and embarked on infrastructural and economic transformation as well as technology.
On Education, he said that he has ended an era of school without teachers by recruiting 5,000 people through an open source application portal for transparency and on Health sector, upgraded three general hospitals, others.
The governor while recounting his other achievements, thanked the Church for her relationship and support to the state government that is committed, transparent and responsible, urging all to carry out their Civic responsibilities to enable the government to achieve the mandate.
Bishop Ezeokafor commended Soludo for all his achievements within one year, especially with regards to roads and his new plans to give Anambra State a facelift.
The prelate urged Ndi Anambra to reciprocate the good gesture by carrying out their Civic responsibilities.
On the state of the nation, he expressed disappointment over what transpired during and after presidential election, urging the powers that be to do the needful to reflect the people's mandate for peace and unity to thrive. (MOI)
