 TEAM LAGOS EMERGES TOP AT 23RD NATIONAL SPORTS FESTIVAL SOUTH WEST ELIMINATION Lagos State athletes proved their dominance in the South West by edging out regional competitors and emerging top in the five team events contested at the elimination series qualifier for the 23rd National Sports Festival later this year in Enugu. The elimination series featured team events in volleyball, basketball, football, beach volleyball, and cricket in male and female categories. While the team clinched only the female football ticket by topping their group, they showed dominance in three other sports by winning both the male and female tickets. Team Lagos took first position in the volleyball male and female categories. The male team defeated their counterparts from Ondo in the finals by 25-18, 24-26, 25-20, and 25-20, while the female team defeated Team Oyo by 25-18, 22-25, 28-26, 16-25, and 15-8. Kidnappers Release 74 Persons In Zamfara

In Zamfara State, 74 abducted from Wanzamai village in Tsafe Local Government Area of State have regained their freedom after payment of six million naira as ransom to the abductors.

A resident of the village who disclosed that the abductors have released 74 while two were killed, the remaining kidnapped victims are still in captivity.

The 74 victims were brought into the village in vehicles straight to a private hospital for medical screening.

They were said to have been abducted in the affected villages of Wanzamai, Gidan Cida and Kuceri but one of the victims later escaped.

The abductors demanded more money before they would release the remaining twenty persons still in captivity.

The 74 who regained their freedom are weak, highly traumatized, and need urgent medical attention to be able to get back on their feet.

On Friday, 7th April, 2023 suspected terrorists invaded Wanzamai, Kucheri, Gidan Chida villages and abducted 96 women and children to an unknown destination demanding N3million ransom for their release.
