 TEAM LAGOS EMERGES TOP AT 23RD NATIONAL SPORTS FESTIVAL SOUTH WEST ELIMINATION Lagos State athletes proved their dominance in the South West by edging out regional competitors and emerging top in the five team events contested at the elimination series qualifier for the 23rd National Sports Festival later this year in Enugu. The elimination series featured team events in volleyball, basketball, football, beach volleyball, and cricket in male and female categories. While the team clinched only the female football ticket by topping their group, they showed dominance in three other sports by winning both the male and female tickets. Team Lagos took first position in the volleyball male and female categories. The male team defeated their counterparts from Ondo in the finals by 25-18, 24-26, 25-20, and 25-20, while the female team defeated Team Oyo by 25-18, 22-25, 28-26, 16-25, and 15-8. Preparatory to handover come May 29th, 2023, Benue State Governor-elect, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has released names of his Transition Committee.

The committee has former Head of Service Chief Mike Iordye as chairman while Dan Ashiekaa is to serve as secretary.

Members include Prof. John Enyi, Prof. Steven Ugbah, Chief Hinga Biem, Dr. Moses Tule, Arch Samuel Agule, Hon. Paul Biam, Barr. Moses Atagher, Hon. Emmanuel Atser, Dr. Emmanuel Chenge, Mr. Humbe Mkena, Dr. Christopher Obute, Prof. Christie Ekoja, Hon. Philip Kwaghsor and Lady Helen Atom.

Others are Barr. Bemsen Mnyim, Mrs. Nana Mede, Hon. Nick Wende, Dr. Timothy Aikyor, Hon. Nick Eworo, Lady Susan Achiaga, Rt. Hon. Dorothy Mato, Dr. Patrick Onumah, AVM Monday Morgan, Hon. Solomon Wombo, Hon. Dan Onje, Barr. Patricia Kupchi and Rev. Pst Philip Tachin.

In a statement signed by his Director of Communications, Kula Tersoo, Alia said the Committee has a mandate to collaborate with the outgoing government’s Transition Committee to ensure a seamless handover of power.
