 LAWMA SEALS PREMISES ON AGO PALACE WAY, ARRESTS 11 DUMPERS ON LAGOS ISLAND … Intensifies Enforcement Against Illegal Waste Disposal In renewed enforcement efforts, the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has sealed premises identified for persistent illegal waste dumping along Ago Palace Way and arrested 11 persons for illegal waste disposal in various parts of Lagos Island. The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of LAWMA, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, said that the enforcement operations underscored the Authority’s resolve to enforce existing waste management regulations and ensure compliance with approved waste disposal practices across Lagos. He explained that the Ago Palace Way operation covered plazas, hotels, lounges and warehouses along the corridor, as part of efforts to tackle activities contributing to waste build-up and environmental nuisance on road setbacks, medians and other unauthorised public spaces. ORTOM REVEALS WHY HE INVESTED IN NIGERIA AIRFORCE AERODROME

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, said his administration has invested in the Nigeria Airforce aerodrome in Makurdi as commercial flights resume operation.


The governor, who stated this on Monday at the resumption of commercial flights into the airport, said that his administration spent heavily for the procurement and provision of a Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority-approved Digital Airport Rescue Fire Fighting vehicle, along with training, equipping and testing of over 50 Fire Staff.


“Provision of a state-of-the-art Ambulance and trained Health personnel for Emergency Rescue Services;


“Facilitating the Geodetic Survey of the Airport to ensure the Airport is; included in ICAO maps so that pilots can rely on instruments (and not just their eyes) to fly into Makurdi.


“Provisions of Airport Tarmac markings and related airside signages; Provision of operational vehicle for NAMA; Strengthening of access control and security screening and; Provision of temporary spaces for Terminal operations,” the governor said.


Ortom added that his government made provision for a subsidy; to defray Air Peace against any unanticipated route risks; amongst others also said that it’s in the process of providing long-term accommodation; for the Nigeria Airspace Management Authority Personnel; as well as a Tent to protect the ARFF truck and serve as a rest area for the Fire personnel, among other commitments.


The outgoing governor commended the Minister of Aviation and his team, the NAF, NCAA, NAMA, NiMET, the Airport Manager, and her colleagues as well as Air Peace for their cooperation and; diligence in making the event possible.
